To raise awareness of the Campaign among students, parents and the public, and to complement the promotion of the 4Rs Mental Health Charter (4Rs Charter) launched in the 2024/25 school year, the Education Bureau (EDB) organises the Healthy Living, Happy Family Series, with activities designed to encourage parents and children to develop a healthy lifestyle together, including adequate sleep, daily exercises and participation in leisure activities, so that both parents and children can relax appropriately and maintain their physical and psychological well-being to facilitate happy and healthy development of children. Through participating in the “Picturise Your Messages Design Competition”, students and parents can showcase their creativity by designing and drawing a set of four stickers on different themes depicting parent-child teamwork in developing good life habits.

The National Security Exhibition Gallery is the first thematic gallery in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) dedicated to systematic promotion of national security education. It is also the first national security education base in the HKSAR.

The National Security Exhibition Gallery, with an area of over 1,100 square metres, aims at enhancing visitors’ appreciation of the significance of national security, impressing upon all citizens their duties and responsibilities in safeguarding national security, as well as deepening the community’s general knowledge and understanding of national security related concepts and issues. Developed around the core of a holistic approach to national security, the Gallery serves to promote patriotism and affection for our country. Messages are conveyed to encourage all citizens to take part in safeguarding national security, and to elevate their sense of responsibility and ownership. The overarching need for long-term security and stability in Hong Kong, and Hong Kong’s unique advantages of being backed by the Motherland and connected to the world are emphasised.

The application of Profile of Kindergartens and Kindergarten-cum-Child Care Centres 2024 (KG Profile) provides information of all kindergartens and kindergarten-cum-child care centres registered with the Education Bureau (EDB) and operating in the 2024/25 school year to assist parents in making an informed choice for their children. The Profile contains information of schools kept by EDB, including school name, address, telephone and fax numbers, student category, number of permitted accommodation, non-profit-making / private independent status, approved fees (school fees, application fee and registration fee), number of students, number of teachers and their qualification, teacher to pupil ratio and whether operating child care services for children aged below 3. It also contains information provided by schools including names of supervisor and principal, school founding year, school website, school facilities, curriculum details, school characteristics, price of major school items, admission and application information, monthly salary range and working experience of principal and teaching staff and school expenditure information. Schools not joining the kindergarten education scheme (the Scheme) could provide such information optionally.

Dr. Chen Yinyan, Assistant Professor of the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, taught everyone the secrets of “good sleep” at the event, allowing parents and children to understand common sleep problems and factors that affect sleep, and shared how to improve sleep. Starting with the environment and establishing good sleeping habits, parents can help their children sleep well and get enough sleep.

2024 Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Education Expo

The Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui has been running schools for more than 170 years. During this period, it has opened a total of 32 secondary schools, 59 primary schools, and 49 kindergartens and nurserys. In addition to Hong Kong, the S.K.H. also has 2 schools in Macau. S.K.H. schools have their own characteristics, but they are also consistent, so they can provide appropriate educational services to different communities.

The S.K.H. will hold an Education Expo at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on December 14 and 15. The Education Service Department of the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui hopes to introduce the S.K.H.’s education system to parents, church members and the public through this Expo, so that More people can realize the uniqueness and integration of S.K.H. schools, and understand that different schools under the S.K.H. Church can meet the needs of students from different backgrounds. Under the same school running philosophy, through 15 years of kindergarten, primary and secondary education and cultivation, so that students can grow up healthily and welcome a rich life.

This is the first education fair held by the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui. A total of 143 schools participated, including 49 kindergartens, 59 primary schools, 34 secondary schools and 1 special school. In addition to various S.K.H. affiliated schools, the Education Expo also invited the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Provincial Office, Archives, “Echo”, various social service units, Ming Hua Theological College, eligious Education Resource Centre and St. John’s College of the University of Hong Kong exhibits.

Young children can develop an interest in learning through sensory stimulation, and they can also learn knowledge and exercise skills through games, but what is the actual operation like?

To this end, the Education Bureau has commissioned the Education University of Hong Kong to organize parent-child sensory play workshops. Parents and children who participated in the workshop made five different sensory bottles, including a sound bottle, a meditation bottle, a water and oil bottle, a magnetic bottle and a smell bottle. During the production process, the speaker explained to parents how to help young children explore sounds, colors, textures and smells, and allowed parents and children to practice in real time. The speaker also introduced how parents can use sensory bottles to carry out different game activities with their children to cultivate their children’s language skills, executive function and creative abilities at home.
