Parents always want the “best” for their children, but when selfless love turns into over-indulgence, you are the culprit in spoiling your child. Spoiling not only makes children not cherish, but also becomes selfish. If you love your child, you might as well get rid of the habit of responding to your needs and cultivate a grateful heart for everything.

“Hand Hygiene (Parent-child Dialogue)”
(Cantonese Narration)
Centre for Health Protection・Department of Health

Many infectious diseases can be transmitted through direct contact. If hands are contaminated with pathogens, especially when they are soiled with respiratory discharge or faecal matters, diseases include hepatitis, influenza, and hand, foot and mouth disease can be spread easily. Observance of hand hygiene is the prerequisite of the prevention of the spread of communicable diseases. Using soap and water or rub hands with alcohol-based handrub can achieve hand hygiene.

When do we perform Hand Hygiene? 1. Before touching the eyes, nose and mouth; 2. Before eating or handling food; 3. After using the toilet; 4. When hands are contaminated by respiratory secretions, e.g. after coughing or sneezing; 5. After touching public installations or equipment, such as escalator handrails, elevator control panels or door knobs; 6. After handling vomitus or faecal matter, e.g. after changing diaper; 7. Before and after visiting hospitals, residential care homes or caring for the sick; 8. After making contact with animals, poultry or their droppings.

“A Healthy Internet Starts With You” Video Series (Parents)
“Parent-child Relationship”
(Cantonese Narration)
Information Technology in Education Section・Education Bureau

Information literacy is the ability and attitude to promote students’ effective and ethical use of information. Students who develop the relevant competencies become responsible citizens and lifelong learners. When using electronic products, students may face issues such as cybersecurity, physical and mental health, etc. As a parent, how should you accompany your children on this “e-learning” path? How to help them build healthy online habits and teach them the benefits of using information technology for learning?

In view of this, the Education Bureau recently, together with relevant government departments and non-governmental organizations, jointly produced the “A Healthy Internet Starts with You” Video Series (Parents). The videos are rich in content and cover topics such as: technology crime, Internet addiction, cyberbullying, physical health, intellectual property, cybersecurity, parent-child relationship and computer games and child development. The eight video clips above provide parents with effective ways to deal with related issues, so as to support parents in developing their children’s information literacy and help them develop healthy online habits.

“Compete To Win?”
(Cantonese Narration)
Community Relations Department・ICAC

The short film “Father and Children” is produced by the ICAC’s Community Relations Office. Through light-hearted techniques and daily life examples, it explores how parents can more effectively cultivate positive values in their children. The video also includes discussion topics and parent-child tips for parents’ reference.

Among them, “Only allowed to win, not allowed to lose?” The father in the play emphasized “Only allowed to win, not allowed to lose”, making the child “take shortcuts” in order to avoid failure, and even use improper means to achieve the goal of winning. The video makes parents reflect: 1. What kind of mentality do you have to encourage your children to participate in the competition? Why? 2. If your child loses in the competition, how will you teach them to face it? 3. How can you help your child develop positive values to face the outcome?

The short film “Father-Child Honesty” focuses on primary school parents. The content focuses on four moral education themes, including “self-care ability and sense of responsibility”, “right and wrong judgment and integrity”, “respect and care” and “positive attitude towards money”, including ten There will be a two-minute situational short drama every time during the festival: the short video also includes interviews with social workers, providing parent-child tips for parents to refer to how to more effectively cultivate their children’s morals and values.
